Yugoslavia-1 (Communism days) - Table of Contents

Back to Travel TOC

After a three-month archaeological photo assignment in the middle east, I decided to take the long way home, and travel through the back-country of southern Europe. Greece was beautiful as I expected, but the most pleasant, and unexpected beauty of landscape and people happened in what was then Yugoslavia. It was an unspoiled, green, billboard-free, dirt-road, and primitive farmland. The people lived close to the earth and worked hard physically. The post communist days of war were tragic and costly. Eventually, nature will reclaim the earth's physical scars and bomb craters, and the land may once again resemble some of these images.
