Situated in historic Christmas, Florida, there is now a school that offers adult students a variety of learning opportunities in traditional arts and crafts. Many of these crafts were practiced by the pioneers who lived in this community that grew up near the site of Fort Christmas which was established on Christmas Day, 1837 during the Second Seminole War. We wish to introduce Fort Christmas Folk School, a non-profit institution that is the brain-child of Grimmer W. Mapp, Jr. Mr. Mapp, on attending the well-known John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, North Carolina, was inspired to found a similar (though much more modest) version. Like its big-brother in North Carolina, Fort Christmas Folk School is patterned after the Danish tradition. The Campbell Folk School is now 87 years old, so we have a long way to go! We invite you to explore our site and see what we will be offering!
